Police in Soroti District is holding the Amuria district council Deputy Speaker, Francis Emogu over allegations of impersonating as a Statehouse operative.

Emogu was picked from his residence in Soroti town on the orders of  the district security committee headed by the Resident District Commissioner-RDC Isaac Kawooya.

The RDC says they received numerous complaints against Emogu and how he was masquerading as a State House officer to issue fake appointment letters purporting to offer jobs on behalf of Statehouse and the National Resistance Movement-NRM party secretariat.  Several cases of intimidation were also recorded against him.

East Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson, Michael Odongo confirmed the arrest saying police recovered a toy pistol and fake state house identity card bearing number 220 issued on December 5, 2014. Odongo says Emogu shall be charged for impersonation.

Emogu claimed to have been recruited into the state house security surveillance network in 2014 by the former Minister for Presidency, Frank Tumwebaze.
