An angry mob has lynched two men and critically injured two others in Amuria district. The deceased have been identified as Max Orisa and David Ebau.

Orisa was lynched in Sugur swamp in Wera Sub County while Ebau breathed his last at Amuria Health Center IV on Tuesday.

Michael Odongo, the East Kyoga Police Spokesperson, says two people including Michael Ebau and an unidentified woman are receiving treatment at the same health facility.

The mob action was in revenge for the Death of one Sam Erogu, a resident of Arotom in Sugur Parish whose body was found lying in his house on Saturday. A subsequent post-mortem report showed that Erogu was strangled to death.

Odongo says that although their investigations are still ongoing, police suspect that Erogu’s relative might have been behind the mob action.

Odongo says no suspect has been arrested in connection to the mob action.

Simon Peter Gabimba, the Sugur parish councillor, says Erogu’s relatives resorted to mob action when the relatives of those believed to behind his killing declined to take responsibility.

He says it took the intervention of officers from Amuria Central Police Station to calm down the situation.
