Amuriat's security vehicle broke down in Nyakitunda where he held his first campaign meeting. Presidential candidates are entitled to five bodyguards and a vehicle to transport them.
The Forum for
Democratic Change presidential candidate, Patrick Amuriat Oboi traversed
Isingiro district on Wednesday without his full security detail following the
breakdown of their vehicle.
Amuriat's security vehicle broke down in Nyakitunda
where he held his first campaign meeting. Presidential
candidates are entitled to five bodyguards and a vehicle to transport them.
However, Amuriat is currently moving with only one bodyguard in his official
car. Roland Mugume Kaginda, the FDC chief campaign manager blames the bad roads in Isingiro
district for the breakdown of their security vehicle.
He said they have
resorted to using their private security guards as they wait for the security
vehicle.

Stanley Katembeya, the Mbarara City FDC party Chairperson, faulted the Electoral
Commission for failing to provide spare vehicles in case one breaks down.
“Presidential
candidates are supposed to be with at least a vehicle at standby in case one
gets a problem because these roads are very bad for these types of cars,” he
said.
The Electoral Commission spokesperson, Paul Bukenya, says it is the
responsibility of the Commission to repair the faulty vehicle once the matter
is brought to their attention.
