Geoffrey Komakech, the deceased politician was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday after complaining of acute chest pains.
The spokesperson of the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party in Amuru district has died.
Geoffrey Komakech, who was also former LC3 Speaker of Atiak Sub County in Amuru district succumbed to undisclosed illness at Gulu hospital on Wednesday.
He was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday night after complaining of acute chest pains.
Komakech, who has served FDC party for 15 years as mobiliser, was also speaker Atiak Sub County from 2011 to 2016.
After he was defeated, he became the political assistant of Kilak North Member of Parliament Anthony Akol.
Akol has described his death as mysterious adding that he was in perfect health condition on Tuesday night.
John Bosco Oloya, another FDC official in Amuru says Komakech was pronounced dead at about 4 am. He says they are waiting for post-mortem results to confirm the cause of death.
