Lucy Akello, the incumbent Amuru Woman Member of Parliament is seeking for Police protection following an attack on her home on Monday night. According to Akello, three armed men stormed her home in Layibi division in Gulu municipality on Monday and attempted to break in.

She says after struggling for over an hour to break in vain, the men threw stones on her roof and left. ‘\'I have a lot of fear and cannot go on like this. I need police protection because my life is in danger,” Akello said. Akello suspects the attack could be connected to the ongoing campaigns.

“They didn\'t touch the vehicle that was parked outside but struggled to enter the house, which means they were after me,” she said. The MP has filed a case of attempted robbery at Gulu Central Police Station via SD44/11/01/2016.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa Regional Police Spokesperson says they have launched investigations into the complaint filed by the MP. He however, advises her to apply for security from the Inspector General of Police.

This is the second politician in Northern Uganda to seek Police protection.
