Another Suspect Arrested in Kyotera Boy’s Ritual Murder

According to Mike Ssebuliba, the Nakatoogo-Bikunya LCI Chairperson, the third suspect disappeared from the village yesterday shortly after the incident but he was tracked and arrested later.

The police in Kyotera have arrested another man said to be part of the group that captured and murdered an 8-year-old boy for their rituals.

The young Francis Kateregga of Nakatoogo-Bikunya village, in Kabira sub-county, went missing on Sunday night while he was on his way home.   He had gone to their neighbour Margret Nakate’s house to watch a local drama series called ‘NABOSA’ on Top Television, when he disappeared.

His family members got concerned after waiting for him to return home for several hours in vain.   Residents suspect the boy was captured by unknown people shortly after leaving the neighbours house.

According to Mike Ssebuliba, the Nakatoogo-Bikunya LCI Chairperson, the third suspect disappeared from the village yesterday shortly after the incident but he was tracked and arrested later.

He added that a joint search that started on Sunday concluded on Monday afternoon when residents discovered Kateregga’s body in the bush just a few meters from his home.

The killers split his head and scooped his brain, while the blood was drawn from his body. Police first arrested two witchdoctors and another one later.

Kateregga’s parents Macklin Namaganda and Mike Sserwada, both residents of Kasamba-Kyamayembe village in Bwamijja parish, Kabira sub-county, have appealed to the police to expedite investigations in the case for justice.

Muhammad Nsubuga, the Southern Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the arrest saying they have three suspects in custody.   He however declined to reveal their details not to jeopardise the ongoing investigations.

A post-mortem has been done at Kalisizo hospital and the body given to the family members for burial, as investigations continue on a file CRB 518/21 KYTRA.
