In a move to prevent Karimojong cattle rustlers from entering Teso and Lango Sub Regions, the police have formed Anti Stock Theft Units in these regions.
The commandant of the units and former Regional Police commander Southwestern, Andrew Sorowen, says the force is comprised of former Amuka and arrow boys who were integrated into the police force.
Sorowen says the force that has its headquarters in Katakwi will be instrumental in creating security necessary for the internally displaced people to return back to their homes.
He says the deployment of the force has already started in Teso and will continue up to Lira.

Local leaders in Teso and Lango have welcomed the formation of the units and asked government to ensure prompt payment of their salaries for efficiency.
Government late last year integrated over 4000 members of Amuka and arrow militias into the police force as part of the demobilization exercise, for the auxiliary forces that fought alongside the UPDF to flush out Lord's Resistance Army rebels from Teso and Lango.
