Apac LC V Chairperson, Bob Okae and two others are in trouble for allegedly flouting Covid-19 preventive guidelines. The others are Kenny Auma, an aspirant for the Kwania Woman parliamentary seat and Geoffrey Alex Ogwal Adyebo who is eyeing the Kwania LC V Chairperson’s seat.

Bob Okae is campaigning for election as Kwania North legislator. The trio was picked up on Sunday night by a team of Police officers from Kwania Central Police Station led by the District Internal Security Officer- DISO David Komakech for holding a campaign meeting in contravention of Covid-19 preventive guidelines.

Edith Basalirwa, the Kwania District Police Commander, says the trio was arrested from Acandek Village Aora parish in Aduku Sub County and escorted to Kwania Central Police Station where they recorded statements and were released on police bond.

She says the suspects were charged with violating statutory rules issued by Ministry of Health on public gatherings.  ‘’We apprehended them and we have already opened up a case of defying presidential directives on Covid-19 prevention at Kwania CPS as CRB 3211/09/2020 pending investigations,” she said.

It is alleged that Okae was meeting about 250 people at the home of his agent in Acandek Village in violation of the Standard Operating Procedures-SOPs. David Komakech, the Kwania District Internal Security Officer, says at the moment political gatherings are still suspended.

He appeals to politicians in the district to observe Covid-19 preventive guidelines issued by the government to contain the spread of the pandemic.
