Unidentified thugs have shot dead a woman in Nakasongola district during a robber raid at her home. Lameck Kigozi, the Savanah Region Police Spokesperson identifies the deceased as Beatrice Muhooza, a resident of Kyamukama village in Nakitoma Sub County.
According to Kigozi, Muhooza met her death on Sunday night when two armed thugs raided the home of her husband Steven Bulegye demanding for money accruing from the sale of their goats.
Muhooza reportedly told the thugs she didn\'t have the money, which prompted them to shoot her in the chest. Bulegye wasn\'t at home at the time of the attack. He says the thugs attacked another resident identified as Sam Kalongo but his visitor disarmed them forcing them to flee into hiding.

The body of the late Beatrice Muhooza has been transferred to Nakasongola Health Center IV for postmortem. The raid has raised concern on the rising cases of gun crime in greater Luweero.
Recently, Sanjeev Banibal, the manager Smart Farm Uganda Limited was shot dead and his junior Sleivinas Radhi injured in a robbery attack in Nakasongola.
In July this year, three other people including Steven Iwokit, Paul Ikiringi and Tadeo Bbale were also shot dead in Kamira Sub County in Luweero. Police is yet to establish how guns end up in the hands of wrong elements.
James Wandira, the Nakasongola LC V chairperson blames the attacks on lapses in security. He says some of the guns that are used in the attacks are those that were robbed by thugs from Police.
He calls for combined efforts from local leaders, residents and police to stamp out gun crime.
