Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed robbery incident to URN.
Armed Thugs have raided Wairagaza trading
center in Kyangwali sub county in Kikuube district robbing shillings 3 million
from a businesswoman. The incident happened on Tuesday night at around 9 p.m.
It is alleged that the two-armed
robbers raided the home of Sarah Bampayineza 35, a business woman in Wairagaza
trading center.
They placed her at gunpoint and ordered her to surrender to
them all the money she had in her possession.
According to Bampayineza, when she insisted, the thugs
reportedly grabbed her bag that she had placed on a table containing shillings three
million and varnished with it to an unknown destination.
The thugs also robbed her
of her two mobile phones valued at shillings 420,000.
Bampayineza later rushed and
reported the matter to Kikuube police who have since commenced investigations
into the matter.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine
region police spokesperson has confirmed the incident adding that a team of
flying squad officers has been dispatched to the area to track the suspected
robbers.
Hakiza has appealed to members of the
public to cooperate with the police by availing crucial information that could
lead to the arrest and detention of the suspected robbers.
