Army Mourns As Gen. Aronda\'s Body Arrives

The body of the late Internal Affairs Minister, Gen. Aronda Nyakairima has been flown into the country aboard a Fly Emirates plane. The plane carrying the casket touched down shortly before 1:30pm.

Upon arrival, his casket was rolled out of the cargo section and rolled by officers at the rank of Major Generals and Lieutenant Generals. These included the Chief of Land Forces Maj. Gen. David Muhoozi, the former deputy army chief Lt. Gen. Ivan Koreta, the Head of the UPDF Business wing Maj. Gen. James Mugira and Maj. Gen. Julius Oketta, among others. 

His wife, Linda Ngabirano in tears broke army protocol to touch the casket of her husband and let out wails. 

Aronda\'s body has been transferred to the City Mortuary for a post-mortem investigation to be continued by Dr. Slyvester Onzivua, police pathologist Dr. Moses Byaruhanga and the army head of the medical unit Dr James Makumbi. Army spokesperson, Lt. Col. Paddy Ankunda told URN that the body will then lie in parliament on Thursday.

Explaining why a post mortem is being done at yet a team of pathologists was flown to Dubai, Ankunda says the test were not conclusive necessitating more work here.

Ankunda told URN that many army officers will be mourning a father figure, who was a role model to many of them.
