The victims have been identified as Ssali Ssentongo of Kiryambiire cell, Gerald Geofrey of Nyabinannga cell, Patrick Kirungi of Kiryambiire cell and another one only identified as Tusingwire also a resident of Nyabinanga cell.
Four people are nursing injuries at various health
facilities in Kagadi district after being attacked and hacked by unknown
assailants. The victims are residents of Pachwa Town Council in Kagadi District.
The victims have been identified as Ssali Ssentongo of
Kiryambiire cell, Gerald Geofrey of Nyabinannga cell, Patrick Kirungi of
Kiryambiire cell, and another one only identified as Tusingwire, also a resident
of Nyabinannga cell.
They were attacked and injured on Tuesday and Wednesday
nights between 10p.m and 11 p.m., respectively. They were attacked by a group of
people armed with machetes, whose motives are not known. Area residents are currently
living in fear following the brutal attacks.
Patrick Kirungi, a victim, explains that he was attacked by
a group of three men armed with pangas on Tuesday at around 10 p.m.
He explains that the attackers tasked him to hand over to
them the money and phones he had in his possession, and when he resisted, one of
the thugs hacked him on the hand and head. They reportedly grabbed his phone and
fled to an unknown destination.

Gabriel Kiiza, the LCI Chairperson of Gayaza Cell, told URN
in an interview that the attackers often move in groups of three to four people
and target night travellers.
He says the attackers demand money, phones, and other
valuables from their victims before hacking them.
Kiiza has called on the government to intervene and protect
the community from the violent attackers who have raided the area.

Justus Businge, the LCIII Chairperson of Pachwa Town Council, has urged residents to be vigilant and desist from moving during the night
hours.
He says his office
has already alerted the district security committee about the attacks by the
assailants.

Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson
has called for calm among the residents stating that a team of flying squad detectives
has been dispatched on the ground to track down the suspects.
He has, however, tasked
residents in the area to cooperate with security by providing crucial
information.
