The Buganda Road Resident State Attorney has sanctioned assault charges against an American Missionary accused of battering an employee of Grand Imperial Hotel. Jimmy Tailor was arrested on Friday last week for assaulting Francis Samanya, a staff of Grand Imperial Hotel. Trouble for Tailor started after video footage went viral on social media showing him assaulting Samanya while shouting obscenities.

He accused Samanya and all Ugandans of disliking Jesus Christ. Detectives recorded statements from the victim, suspect and witnesses and also attached the video footage on the file. Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, says Tailor will be taken to Butabika Hospital to ascertain his mental status before he appears in court.

"Yes the file has been sanctioned but we have to first have him checked at Butabika hospital since he claims to be mentally unstable," Owoyesigyire told URN. By the time of filing this story Tailor was expected to report to Central Police Station (CPS) Kampala cells following his release on police bond on Saturday. Police was forced to remove Tailor from the cells after he reportedly assaulted 16 suspects in the cells.

According to one of the cell guards, Tailor had a golden wedding ring on his fingers, which he refused to hand over as he entered the cells. "In the Middle of the night, suspects began bullying Tailor asking him to hand over the golden ring. When he refused to give it to them, they tried to get it by force," the cell guard narrates.

Adding that, “the white man beat up all the 16 suspects who were in the same cell with him and only left with a few bruises on his arm and face." Tailor was still beating the suspects who were already on the ground when police intervened and relocated him.
