The Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) President, Dominic Otuchet has said they require over 30 million shillings to send a team to the 2016 Africa Seniors Championship.
The Championship which brings together top athletes from the continent will take place June 23-26 in Durban, South Africa.
Otuchet said they want to send eight athletes for the event but require finances to cater for transport, meals and accommodation .
“We are still looking around for money to make sure our athletes will be comfortable for the trip to South Africa. We would have liked to send a bigger team, but we are struggling to get money,” added Otuchet.
The Federation President said they will mainly have up-coming athletes on the team and a few who have already qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
At the last Africa Senior Championship held in Marrakesh, Morocco in 2014, Uganda won no medal. They won one gold and two bronze medals at the event in Benin in 2012.
