The outgoing Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara diocese Samuel Kahuma has asked women in the diocese to start income-generating projects.

Bishop Kahuma, who was on Tuesday presiding over the annual general meeting for the Mother’s Union at St. Peter’s Cathedral, asked the women to ensure that even when they join businesses, they should deal in quality products to attract customers.

He asked women to engage in modern and productive agriculture as well as other business ventures that may improve their incomes but as they do so let them deal in quality products that will attract customers.

Kahuma applauded the Mother’s Union in the diocese for spearheading several church developments and asked them to continue upholding Christian values.

He says several projects have been accomplished by the women in the diocese due to the hard work being done by the women.

Kahuma emphasized that through repentance and faith in Christ, believers can experience the transformative power of God’s grace and be set free from the bondage of sin.

Kahuma urged the couples in the Anglican Church to join the Mother’s Union and Christian Women Fellowship ministries so that the church could have vibrant structures.

Grace Mukugize, the President of the Mother’s Union said that during the meeting presented various projects that have been undertaken and those they intend to implement next year.

Mukugize said that currently, they are mobilizing resources for the construction works of the Mother’s Union guest house at Duhaga.

“We are currently mobilizing resources for the construction of the building and we are appealing to all well-wishers to come out and support this great work of God,” Mukugize said.

The bishop-elect for Bunyoro Kitara diocese Rev. Canon Jacob Ateirweho who also attended the AGM asked more married couples to join mothers' and fathers’ unions to have stable families.

“We need to encourage the young married couples to join the mother’s and father’s union ministries so that we can have stable families,” Ateirweho said.

Ateirweho appreciated the role of the women's ministry in the diocese and pledged to continue supporting them to uplift the women's ministry.

He pledged to continue supporting the different church structures and ensuring that they are all vibrant and performing.
