The Cranes coach Bobby Williamson has criticised Nigeria’s 2013 Afcon winning coach Stephen Keshi for recently saying some European coaches who come to Africa are mediocre and only come for money.

Williamson yesterday said that it was an insult for Keshi to think that way.  Williamson has been in-charge of the Cranes for four years now.

Last month after the group stages of the 2013 Afcon in South Africa, Keshi said he cannot accept that some mediocre coaches from Europe who come to Africa are better than him.

Keshi whose team beat Burkina Faso 1-0 to win the Afcon title last Sunday said the European coaches just come for the money in Africa and yet they are not doing anything that Africans cannot do.

Williamson  says he is in Uganda because of good weather although he does his work with dedication as a professional.  Williamson said it is no different with African players in Europe because of the money and nothing else, but they are professionals.

Williamson has won four Cecafa Tusker Senior Challenge Cups with the Cranes.

Currently only a few Nations in Africa use local coaches like; Nigeria, Ethiopia, Sudan, Ghana, Tunisia, Cape Verde, Morocco, South Africa and Kenya. The likes of Uganda, Algeria, Burkina Faso, DR Congo, Ivory Coast among others all employ European coaches.
