Body of 13-Year-Old Girl Recovered from Swamp in Rubanda

The deceased identified as Hilda Orishaba, daughter to Justus Rushagunga and Beatrice Nyakarungi, residents of Nangaaro village in Hamurwa town council was swept by running waters at around 05:30 PM.
The body of a 13-year-old girl who was swept by running water in Hamurwa sub-county, Rubanda district has been recovered.

The deceased Hilda Orishaba was swept by running water on Friday. Her mother Nyakarungi says that she had gone with Orishaba to the nearby eucalyptus forest and when it started raining heavily, running waters and swept Orishaba. She says that tried to save her daughter in vain.

Elly Maate, Police Spokesperson for the Kigezi region confirms the incident saying that her body was recovered today in the swamp in Hamurwa.

The incident happened at a time when three people were struck dead and another injured by lightning in the same district.

The deceased are; Stanley Sunday Owoyesiga alias Tissue,63, a headteacher of Golden Star High School, Ben Kwikiriza,16, a resident of Rwamuyora village in Muko sub-county and Bright Orikiriza, a resident of Karambo Village. The injured was identified only as Happy from Kamuserwa village in Nyarurambi ward, Rubanda town council.
