The body of a Boda boda rider who went missing at the start of last week has been found in River Rwizi. The deceased has been identified as 53-year-old Godfrey Kateeba, a resident of Kyabashukura Cell in Kinoni Central Ward in Rwampara District.

Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson, says the deceased was killed on Tuesday night and his body dumped in river Rwizi. He says the assailants were after the deceased’s Bajaj boxer motorcycle registration number UEV 781Q.

He says the deceased’s body was found in river Rwizi at Nyarubungo cell in Kinoni town council in Rwampara district by Joviah Mugume and Loyce Mugasha who had gone to check on their gardens near the river.

Kateeba’s wife, Loice Kateeba Zitenda, says she reported a case of a missing person at Kinoni police post on December 4th, 2020 after her husband failed to return home for four days. According to Zitenda, she tried to inquire from their friends and family on the whereabouts of her husband in vain.

Kasasira says two suspects have been arrested to aid in investigations. He declined to reveal the suspect’s identity, saying they belong to a gang whose members are wanted for terrorising Boda boda riders.
