The body of the teenage girl who jumped to death in Kyakatagwa River in Kyotera district on
Monday to protest the arrest of her boyfriend has been recovered.
Residents of
Kyakatagwa village in Kabira sub-county retrieved the deceased’s body
from the river on Wednesday morning after searching the whole of Tuesday in
vain.

Nassaka, says the body was taken to the Kalisizo hospital for postmortem before
it was handed over to the family members for burial.

According to Nassaka, this is the first incident of its kind
to happen in her village.

Richard Kalanzi, the Kabira LC III Chairperson, says that
the girl's parents dragged her boyfriend to police for spoiling their
daughter.
He says the furious teenager warned to end her life if her
lover was not released immediately.
Kalanzi has appealed to
residents to always seek counsel from the local authorities on family matters
that are beyond their control.
