Bomb Blast Kills Child in Ngora, Injures Another

The Police preliminary findings show that the blast occured in the house of a veteran soldier identified as John Obwin on Wednesday evening.

A bomb/grenade blast has killed a pupil of Kopege Primary School and injured another in Odwarat Sub County, Ngora district. 

The deceased has been identified as John Bosco Okello while the injured is Sam Esimu, both children aged 14.

The Police preliminary findings show that  the blast occured in the house of a veteran soldier identified as John Obwin on Wednesday evening. The findings also showed that the bombs had been kept by Obwin in his house for some time, according to the East Kyoga Acting Regional Police Spokesman, Edison Ebukulem.

Ebukulem notes that other suspected bombs were found dumped behind one one of the Obwin's house after the blast. 

"The body of the deceased was conveyed to Ngora Health center IV for postmortem. Obwin, the retired UPDF officer who is the suspect to this effect is on run and no arrests yet have been made," Ebukulem said in a press statement.

"We therefore wish to inform the public out there to remain calm and vigilant as well as give police all the necessary information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect one OBWIN John," he added.

Ebukulem notes the matter is currently under investigations by the Police in Ngora territorial area.

The injured pupil is currently admitted at Ngora Fres Carr Hospital.
