A bomb has exploded in Gulu killing one person. 51-year-old Constantine Nyeko, a resident of Laburumo village Palaro Sub-county in Gulu district was blown on Wednesday morning while digging in his garden. Patrick Okema, the Northern Uganda Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident saying that police and the army rushed to the scene after the explosion but found the victim already dead.
Okema says they suspect that Nyeko was hit by a landmine that was planted by the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels during the time they operated in northern Uganda. Okema warns the public to be cautious of unfamiliar objects that they come across.
