The former in Charge of Budadiri Health Center IV Dr Benjamin Chebeti left with a motorcycle which was donated by Baylor Uganda Ltd, to facilitate HIV/AIDS outreach programs in Budadiri sub-county, Sironko district.

Dr Chebeti was interdicted last year on allegations of stealing government drugs from the health facility.   However, authorities have realized that upon his interdiction, he went with the motorcycle which he claimed belonged to him and never brought it back when he returned to the hospital after the interdiction.

Dr Levi Bofu, the current in charge of Budadiri Health Centre IV said that they find difficulty in carrying out ART outreach programs especially in the hard to reach areas without the motorcycle.

//Cue in; We have been…

cue out…it has affected.”//

Sironko Deputy Resident District Commissioner George Magunda has since written to him asking that he returns the motorcycle. According to a letter dated August 2, Chebeti was supposed to return the motorcycle on August 8, a date he ignored.

Simon Muyonga, the chairperson of the health Centre Management Committee says the motorcycle is a property of Sironko district given to the HIV/AIDS focal person at the Health Centre and should never have been used by other officials.

//Cue in; And while we…

Cue out…give it back”//

The Sironko Resident District Commissioner Isaac Lulaba has directed the Chief Administrative Officer-CAO Eria Magumba to take the responsibility of recovering the motorcycle since he is the custodian of government property at the district.

The CAO, however, said that the issue of the motorcycle is being handled administratively through the line department at the district.   He said that Dr Chebeti’s salary will be held, in the event that he does not return the motorcycle as has been advised.

//Cue in; I have to…

cue out…worry anybody.”//

Dr Chebeti declined to comment on the matter.
