Bugiri Police Recover Firearm

“We were swung into action after being alerted by residents who cited this gun lying in the bush where they had gone to fetch firewood. I and other senior officers have visited the scene and recorded statements from the locals within the neighboring vicinity,” he says.

Police have recovered an AK-47 rifle from the bushes in Namalese village in Bulesa Sub County in Bugiri district.  

The gun that was recovered on Monday evening was found with 29 rounds of live ammunition.

A police officer privy to the investigations told URN on condition of anonymity that police was alerted by area residents. 

“We were swung into action after being alerted by residents who cited this gun lying in the bush where they had gone to fetch firewood. I and other senior officers have visited the scene and recorded statements from the locals within the neighboring vicinity,” he says.

The Busoga East Region Police Spokesperson, James Mubi told URN in a telephone interview that they have embarked on investigations and consultations to ascertain the real source of the gun.   

According to Mubi, the recovery of a firearm from Bugiri district at the time residents are complaining about increasing robberies along the highway is a huge success for the force and entire public.
