Bugiri Residents Recover Decomposing Body of Unidentified Man

A strong odour drew the attention of passersby to the body, which had deep wounds on the head and chest. Residents told URN that their attempts to identify the deceased did not yield results since he is not from their locality.

Residents of Butambula East village in the Eastern Division of Bugiri Municipality have discovered a decomposing body of an unidentified man in a bush along one of the roads in their area.

A strong odour drew the attention of passersby to the body, which had deep wounds on the head and chest.  Residents told URN that their attempts to identify the deceased did not yield results, since he is not from their locality.

 

Asuman Mawazi, a resident says that their area is surrounded by bushes, which has bred insecurity since they lack streetlights. He asked police to step up foot patrols in the area to stem the growing insecurity.

The area LC I Chairperson, Musa Waigumbulizi, says that they have failed to trace the particulars of the deceased from their records since they registered all residents with the aim of promoting neighbourhood watch and stop crime. 

According to Waigumbulizi, he has reached out to local leaders from the neighbouring villages to trace and find the deceased’s relatives.

The Busoga East Police spokesperson, Diana Nandawula told URN that a team of Detectives had visited the scene of crime to ascertain how the deceased met his death and transfer the body to Bugiri General Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
