A brand new digital X-ray machine purchased by the Health Ministry for Buliisa Hospital is lying idle following the district's failure to secure money for its complete installation.  The health ministry purchased the x-ray machine in 2019 at the tune of Shillings 1 billion.

Dr. Nelson Naisye, the Buliisa District Health Officer-DHO, says that when the Ministry delivered the machine, it tasked the district to provide Shillings 122 million for its complete installation in vain.

According to Dr. Naisye, the X-ray machine lacks a power stabilizer, which is very crucial in its operation. He says that they have severally written to the health ministry about the problem without any positive response.

Fred Lukumu, the Bulisa district LC 5 Chairperson says the X-ray machine is key in saving lives and this has forced several people to resort to Hoima hospital and private health caregivers for the services who overcharge them.

Rebecca Bagire, a resident of Buliisa town council, says that many people in need of x-ray services in the area are going through untold suffering and wonders why the government has failed to operationalize the equipment.

Moses Chombe, another resident says the cost of transporting patients in need of X-ray services to Hoima hospital is high. He calls upon the government to immediately intervene and address the issue.

Allan Atugonza, the Buliisa county MP says that it is unfortunate that the crucial machine has been lying idle for the last two years denying residents critical health services.
