Prosecution further alleged that March 21 this year Kasaija again forged Nandala’s signature on a shortlist notice for bidders of the same road
Ronald Wilfred Kasaija, the Buliisa district procurement officer has been remanded to Masindi prison over forgery. Kasaija appeared on Wednesday afternoon before Jesse Byaruhanga Rugyema, the Masindi Chief Magistrate where he was charged with two counts of forgery.
Details of the case are that on March 19, 2013, Kasaija forged the signature of Michael Nandala, the then Buliisa Chief Administrative Officer to sign a procurement bid requisition form for the 4.5-kilometer Bugoigo-Sonsyo road.
Prosecution further alleged that March 21 this year Kasaija again forged Nandala’s signature on a shortlist notice for bidders of the same road. Kasaija pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded to Masindi government prison until August 19.
According to the police file, the procurement officer’s arrest followed a complaint by a whistle blower querying the shoddy work done on Bugoigo-Sonsyo road. A police investigation into the matter unearthed the forgery.
