Bundibugyo Police Holds Eight Suspected Armed Robbers

A second firearm was recovered from Bundimwali village in Ntotoro Sub County on Friday after interrogating the suspects who revealed that they had hidden it in Semuliki National Park.

Bundibugyo Police are holding eight suspected armed robbers.  The suspects were picked up with a firearm recovered from the home of one of the suspects.

 A second firearm was recovered from Bundimwali village in Ntotoro Sub County on Friday after interrogating the suspects who revealed that they had hidden it in Semuliki National Park.

   

The Bundibugyo District Police Commander, Taban Swaibu confirmed the arrest, saying both police and UPDF have mounted an operation to find more firearms. 

He called upon the community in Rwenzori Region to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to wipe out criminal elements.

Bundibugyo district has been rife with armed robbers targeting vanilla gardens. The armed robbers shoot in the air to scare aware the farmers from defending their produce.

  At least 5 farmers have been murdered by armed robbers in the district in the last 2 years.

Last year, Milton Baluku, a farmer from the neighboring Kisinga Sub County of Kasese District was stabbed to death by armed thugs while guarding his vanilla garden.
