Bunyangabu District Council has resolved to institute a committee to select where a district seed school will be constructed in the next financial year.

Last year, the district councillors failed to agree between Rwimi and Kabonero Sub Counties where the central government would construct a secondary seed school.

The councillors were supposed to decide on the location and then submit a report to the Ministry of Education and Sports for approval.

However, the disagreement emerged forcing the speaker to suspend the meeting.

James Mugarama, the LCV Chairperson says they have resolved to put in place a committee that will assess the educational needs of the two sub-counties and advice on where the seed school should be constructed.

English/Rutooro Cue in: We have constituted…

Cue out: …Niyo ikwija kyomekwa.”//

Mugarama says that it was unfortunate the councillors failed to agree on an issue that concerns the development of the district.

There are reports that the disagreements between leaders of the two sub-counties are based on tribal lines. Kabonero Sub County is occupied by Batooro while Rwimi is predominately Bakiga.
