Bunyoro, Karamoja Provinces Knocked Out of FUFA Drum Tournament

Acholi and West Nile Provinces have qualified for the FUFA Drum quarter finals.

 Bunyoro Province FC team has bowed out of the Federation of Uganda Football Association – FUFA Drum competition after the lost 4-2 to Acholi Province at Pece Stadium on Sunday.

The Acholi team proved too strong for their rivals courtesy of Vipers FC attacker Tito Okello, who led score 2-0 in the first half. Tito Okello now tops the scoring chart with five goals from eight matches.

Bunyoro team gained more momentum and cancelled Tito’s goals in the second half of the game. The two consolation goals came from Kiboga Young FC duo; Brian Mugumya and Peter Lomooro respectively.

However, two more goals from Acholi team substitutes; Moses Okot (Bright Starts) scored a third goal while Francis Onekalit (Ndejje University) scored the final goal to make it 4-2.

After securing a comfortable win, the Acholi team now boasts of 15 points earning them qualification into the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, hosts West Nile defeated 3-0 bottom of table Karamoja Province FC at the Greenlight Stadium in Arua Municipality. Both Acholi and West Nile (10) have qualified for quarter-finals of the game.

Up to 16 provinces in Uganda have been participating in the second edition of the FUFA Drum contest is premised under the theme “Celebrating Our Ancestry.”

The FUFA Drum Match Day 6 registered less than 10,000 fans as opposed to the match against West Nile Province during the Match Day 4 that was enthusiastically attended by more 3,000 football fans across the country.
