Bushenyi Journalists Petition CAO over Harrasment

Journalists in Bushenyi district have petitioned the district chief administrative officer FOR harassment and unfair treatment.

Journalists in Bushenyi district,  have petitioned the Chief Administrative Officer, Danson Yiga, protesting against harassment and unfair treatment from the authorities.

 

The journalists under their umbrella association Bushenyi journalists and media association (BUJOMA) say  they were recently chased from the swearing in ceremony of the new district leaders held at the district headquarters.

The journalists also accuse the district chairperson Willis Bashaasha, of bragging that he can do without journalists from Bushenyi.

 

Handing over their petition to Medias Rubanda, the Bushenyi deputy RDC,  Pison Mugizi,  the BUJOMA chairman, demanded for an immediate apology from the district authorities,  as well as a commitment to always protect them from all sorts of harassment and un fair treatment. He said that the district is trying to trash the responsibility of journalists as Partners in development.

The deputy RDC said that she was surprised to find out that journalists were being harassed and pledged to call a district stake holders meeting to discuss the matter.

 

The petition has also been copied to the Minister of information and National guidance Mary Karooro Okurut for  intervention.
