Court Hands Man Seven Year Jail Term for Manslaughter

Justice Joyce Kavuma found Tumwebaze guilty of causing the death of Joseph Mukasa Balikuddembe. Court heard that on April 27th 2013, Tumwebaze picked a quarrel at a drinking joint in Kazira trading center leading to a fight.
A man in Bushenyi district has earned himself a seven year jail term for manslaughter. The convict is Francis Tumwebaze alias Kabwende, a resident of Kazira cell, Katenga Sub county Mitooma district.

Justice Joyce Kavuma found Tumwebaze guilty of causing the death of Joseph Mukasa Balikuddembe. Court heard that on April 27th 2013, Tumwebaze picked a quarrel at a drinking joint in Kazira trading center leading to a fight.

 

 

According to prosecution, Tumwebaze followed the deceased and hit him with a piece of wood of on the head. He was rushed to Kitagata hospital in Sheema district where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

 

Tumwebaze pleaded guilty to the charge of manslaughter and pleaded for a lenient sentence. In her judgment, Joyce Kavuma handed Kavuma a seven year jail term, saying he didn't waste court's time.

 

He asked those with disputes to resolve their differences amicably.
