Tumusiime says that today morning, Anita Alinda, the owner of the bar, recovered Mwesigye’s lifeless body hanging on a rope that was tied to the ceiling timber which prompted her to the police.
Police in Bushenyi District are investigating circumstances under which a man identified as Amon Mwesigye
committed suicide by hanging in a lodge.
Martial Tumusiime,
the Greater Bushenyi Region police spokesperson, says the incident occurred on
Thursday night at Planet Bar and Lodge in Kigoma Trading Center, Kizinda-Kigoma
Town Council, Bushenyi district.
According to preliminary reports, Mwesigye initially went to the lodge for an evening out but later requested for accommodation which was provided by the lodge attendant Maureen Kyosimire.
Kyosimire narrated that Mwesigye appeared normal at the time he was assigned a room for night accommodation. He reportedly asked for a padlock to lock himself in his room but the attendant declined the request.
Tumusiime says
that on Friday morning, Anita Alinda, the owner of the bar found Mwesigye’s
lifeless body hanging on a rope that was tied to the ceiling timber which
prompted her to report to the police.
Tumusiime adds that the Lodges and bar have been closed for investigations since it is a crime scene.
Tumusiime says
that the deceased’s body was conveyed to Kitagata Hospital for postmortem as
investigations into the matter proceed.
