Bushenyi NRM office faces closure over rent arrears

Amos Mugisha, the land lord claims the party secretariat in Kampala has defaulted onRent for its Bushenyi district office located at the entrance of Bushenyi town along Mbarara- Kasese road for three years without honoring repeated reminders from the land lord.
The ruling National Resistance Movement party offices in Bushenyi District faces closure for failing to pay rent.

Amos Mugisha, the owner of the property claims the party secretariat in Kampala has defaulted on rent for three years now.

According to Mugisha, he has been paid only one million Shillings out of more than eleven million Shillings that he demands from the party top administration.

“I have not been paid for the last three years and this is being unfair to me because I have school going children and money cannot be readily available. I have given them a few days and I lock the doors if they don\'t pay me by next week,” Mugisha warned NRM administrators at  press conference in Bushenyi.

Lawrence Mbeera, the Bushenyi district NRM registrar says he is aware of threats to close their offices over unpaid rent arrears but said they are trying to liaised with the NRM secretary general Justine Kasule Lumumba to have the debt cleared as soon as possible.

During the NRM party conference for greater Bushenyi districts in May this year, the Bushenyi district chairperson, Willis Bashaasha raised a concern of how NRM could enhance its visibility when some of its offices are being closed because of rent arrears but none of the senior party officials commented on the issue.
