Bushenyi Fixes Roads Ahead of Consecration of New Bishop

Jackson Kamugasha, the Mayor Bushenyi -Ishaka municipality, says they decided to fix the roads to ensure the new bishop starts without transport challenges. Rev. Canon Johnson Twinomujuni was elected on April 20th 2017 to replace Bishop Rt. Rev. Yona Katoneene who retired in October 2016.
 Bushenyi municipal authorities are fixing roads leading to and from Bweranyangi Cathedral ahead of the consecration of the West Ankole Bishop this weekend. Some of the roads that are being fixed include Katungu -Bweranyangi road that connects Bweranyangi Cathedral to Mbarara-Bushenyi Highway. 

particular road has been in a sorry state because of several potholes. The municipal authorities have also graded feeder roads in the neighboring village leading to the diocesan headquarters. Milton Kasubule, the Speaker Bushenyi -Ishaka municipality, says they spent Shillings 25 million to work on the roads to ensure that their visitors enjoy their stay in the town.

Bishop Katonene handed over the leadership of the diocese to Archbishop Stanley Ntagali following the wrangles that pit him against a section of Christians in Sheema Archdeaconry. 

 

 

 The Christians accused Bishop Katonene among other things of interfering with the running of Ankole Western Institute of Science and Technology (AWIST). He was also accused of influencing the election of members of the diocesan synod and the Diocesan council so as to determine his successor.
