A businessman in Mbarara town is reported missing just days after another one in Bushenyi was found dead inside his car.

Thirty-fiver-year-old Fred Karuhanga a son of Nazario Bakantoda, has been working closely with his father in running family businesses among them Hotel B Plus along Mbarara High Street.

Karuhanga was last seen in Mbarara at around 2pm May 2nd and has since then never been traced.

Bakantonda says all his son's known telephone contacts are switched off. He says the family suspects that he was taken by kidnappers but says that they do not know what could be the motive.

Mbarara District police commander Jaffar Magyezi confirms the incident and says that investigations are under way.

Karuhanga's disappearance comes just a day after a Bushenyi-based businessman was found dead in his car abandoned in Ibanda district. John Rwamutwe alias Hedex was reportedly killed by his captors.

Rwamutwe who owns a hardware shop along Bushenyi Main Street in Central Division of Bushenyi Municipality, was reportedly kidnapped by yet to be known people and driven in his Toyota Surf registration number UAQ 567R.

According to Monica Ahimbisibwe, the wife to the deceased, a report was made at Bushenyi Police Station before she received a call from unknown people who later handed over the phone to her husband. She says that during the conversation with the husband, he asked her to send 500,000 shillings to his captors so that he could be released.

Monica Ahimbisibwe further revealed that her husband told her that he had been tortured and needed to be rescued quickly so that he goes for medical treatment. She says that she was however shocked after learning that her husband had reportedly been killed and his body left in the vehicle abandoned in Kasangura ward in Kagongo Division of Ibanda Municipality.

Three people have so far been arrested in connection with the incident. These include Henry Mataze a businessman in Bushenyi town, Stuart Bweyare and another whose names have been withheld by the police.
