Busiu SS Needs UGX 1B to Construct Science Lab, Admin Block

Peter Musingo, the Head teacher Busiu Secondary school, said the proposed construction of the science laboratories is a major project and requested Ministers and Members of Parliament from Bugisu region to unite and lobby government to finance the construction of the laboratory.

Busiu Secondary school in Mbale district has launched a fundraising drive for more than Shillings one billion for the construction of science laboratories and completion of an administration block.

The State Minister for Cooperatives, Frederick Ngobi Gume and Trade Minister and area Member of Parliament, Michael Kafabusa Werikhe flagged off the fundraising on Sunday with a procession from Busiu Health Centre IV up to the school.

Shillings 25 million was collected in cash and another Shillings 15 million in pledges. During the fundraising event, the Parent's Teacher's Association Chairperson, Busiu Secondary school, Tom Wanda noted that they have a deficit of Shillings 1,022,130,091 for the construction of science laboratories and completion of the administration block.

According to Wanda, they need Shillings 1,007,130,091 for the construction of science laboratories and Shillings 55 million for the completion of the administration block. He explained that the staff currently operates in two classrooms.

Busiu Secondary school was founded by church of Uganda in 1983 with an enrollment of 86 students. There are currently 1,094 students at the school. Werikhe welcomed the initiative by the school to organise the fundraising drive to mobilise residents to contribute.
