Buturo Orders IGG to Investigate Masindi District Officials

James Nasaba Buturo the minister of Ethics and Integrity has asked the Inspectorate of Government to investigate allegations of corruption against political leaders and Civil servants in Masindi.
Buturo's directives to the IGG, stems from allegations by Mugisha Muhwezi the RDC Masindi, that he was investigating the district chairman on matters of accountability.
In his letter to the IGG copied to all Masindi district officials, Buturo wants all people suspected to be corrupt investigated.
Buturo's letter comes at a time when the Masindi district council is calling for a probe into financial irregularities in the district.
Steven Birija the Masindi District LC 5 chairman says that he ready to be investigated. He also says that he has asked President Yoweri Museveni to institute a judicial service inquiry into the district.
Birija says that he wants the office of the RDC investigated for receiving monitoring allowances from sub counties, yet all his activities are funded by the central government. Birija says the investigations should not be selective.

Mugisha could not be reached for comment on the allegations. Birija is among others accused of receiving 450,000 shillings for a trip to Masaka district, where as he didn't go.
Kanaginagi Ateenyi, the councilor for Pakanyi sub county, who himself was sacked from the executive by Birija for corruption advises the district boss to go on leave when investigations start.
