Coach Mike Hillary Mutebi's KCCA FC will face a tough test against St. George this afternoon in the first leg encounter of the 2018 CAF Total Champions League first round.

Winning at the Addis Ababa Stadium has always proved difficult for many visiting teams, but Mutebi has told his boys that a good result in the first leg will give them a good chance to progress to the group stage of the lucrative tournament.

Although on paper the Ethiopian giants have achieved a lot at the international stage having made it to the group stage before, their current form which saw them fall 4-1 to rivals Hawassa City in a League game over a week ago is something of a worry.

KCCA FC will have to be at their best to play a tight game to avoid conceding many goals, but also make sure they score away from home. Although the Azam Uganda Premier League champions have struggled to find the goals lately, the recovery of Muzamir Mutyaba and Julius Poloto is a big confidence boost as they head into the game.

Skipper Timothy Awany said on Tuesday after training at the Addis Ababa Stadium that although St. George is a good team that passes the ball well, KCCA FC is ready to play their hearts out. “We have been correcting our mistakes after every game and know what to do against St. George,” added the defender.

Derrick Nsibambi and Paul Mucuurezi who scored the goals that helped KCCA FC eject Madagascar's CNaps FC in the preliminary round together with Shaban Muhamad will have to be at their best facing Uganda Cranes second choice goalkeeper Robert Ondongkara if he passes a late fitness test.

The team that wins over two legs will progress to the group stage, while the loser shifts attention to the second round of the Total CAF Confederation Cup.

The defending champions League defending champions Wydad Casablanca (Morocco) who are also fresh from winning the African Super Cup will host Williamsville AC (Cote dÍvoire), while Morocco's second team Difaa El Jadidi host DR Congo's AS Vita Club with all games taking place on Wednesday.

In the Champions League games played on Tuesday Egyptian side Al-Ahly humbled CF Mounana (Gabon) 4-0, while Horoya FC ( Guinea) stopped Generation Foot FC (Senegal) 2-1. League champions of Botswana, Township Rollers picked a shocking 2-1 away win over Young Africans of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam. Uganda Cranes midfielder Ivan Ntege also features for the Botswana side.
