Renowned Gulu-based writer and talk show host Richard Mungu has died at St. Marys Hospital Lacor. Relatives say Richard Mungu succumbed to cancer which he has been battling since last year.
Mungu succumbed to Pulmonary Kaposi Sacorma from the intensive care unit where he was rushed unconscious on Monday evening.
Rose Kotinah, the coordinator of Miss Tourism North says Mungu was pronounced dead at about 3:35PM this afternoon. His body was at the hospital mortuary by the time of filing this report.
Miss Tourism North last year partnered with Northern Uganda Media Club to fund raise 3.5 Million shillings to have the late Mungu treated at the Cancer Institute Mulago.
Kotinah says his condition had briefly improved after undergoing initial treatment at the Cancer Institute in November 2017.
Mungu is remembered for hosting Radio King's Live Public Debate Parliament Waa in 2009. He later went on to work for Uganda Radio Network, Radio North and Unity FM in Lira district before he was taken ill with Kaposi Sacoma.
