Independent Candidate Robert Muhangi has been nominated to contest for the Kajara County Parliamentary seat, more than a month after the Electoral Commission ended the exercise.

Muhangi's nomination had been blocked by the Ntungamo District Returning Officer Robert Baine after reportedly arriving late at the venue. On the same day of his anticipated nomination, Munangi had been bounced for failing to deliver all the required paperwork to support his bid.

URN has been informed that the candidate, was required to provide a copy of his Primary Leaving Examinations result slip before his nomination. He returned after 6 p.m. an hour after the conclusion of the exercise resulting in his ejection by the Returning Officer.

But he petitioned the Electoral Commission for redress saying that he had secured the documents that were required of him and paid all the necessary fees to support his nomination, although this took him more time than expected. He was subsequently cleared after the EC hearing.

Robert Muhangi, a member of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) decided to contest as an independent candidate, after being left out his own party. He accused the MP Gerard Karuhanga of siding with his opponent Naboth Biryabawe to snatch the party flag from him.

He now joins four other candidates in the race; Micheal Kamugisha Timuzigu, the NRM party Flagbearer, Naboth Biryabawe of ANT, Alex Muteesa (FDC) and Eriyakim Atumanya Kapson (Independent).
