against Tanzania in Ethiopia.
Steven Mukwala’s halftime goal that leveled the game was
not enough to rescue Uganda after suffering an early lead against Tanzania in a
do or die game played on Saturday evening. The Kobs failed to register a single
win in the tournament.
Tanzania was the first to score in 31st minute through
Bajana Sospeter, however before Tanzania’s goal, Uganda’s forward Steven
Mukwala missed a penalty in the opening minutes of the game. Uganda got their equalizer
nine minutes later after Tanzania’s lead.
Despite several attempts by Uganda to score a second
goal, Tanzania remained solid in their defense and never gave the Kobs any
Chance. Uganda entered the game in search for a win against Tanzania to secure their
slot in the semifinals. The Kobs therefore exited the tournament with only two points after playing a goalless draw against DR. Congo in their opening match.
Tanzania qualified for the semifinals of the tournament after
topping group A with four points.
Tanzania beat Democratic Republic of Congo
which came last in the group.
Uganda Kobs Team head coach Morley Byekwaso said the
players played their part but the opponents were also solid.He said despite all their
efforts they failed because it was a hard group. He said Tanzania was a better
side and also well organized.
