The Electoral Commission has cancelled elections in several villages in Rubaga Division. The villages include Lungujja Zone 8, Lugala Kigobe, Makamba Zone, Ssendawula Zone and Kinoonya zone in Masanafu, where voters had gone up in arms, protesting what they called fraud in the electoral process.

Peterson Ntale Kikofiira, the FDC candidate in Lungujja Zone 8, faulted Electoral Commission officials for arriving late and working closely with specific candidates. Other locals said that they did not have enough security to protect them from voter bribery and vote rigging. They demanded that the polls be postponed.

"We cannot continue with this process where even Electoral Commission officials are partisan. We have seen some of them supporting our competitors," Kikofiira said.

Earlier residents of Kinoonya zone in Masanafu were seen pelting stones at police officers in a protest against vote rigging. Hassan Wasswa, one of the residents says several taxis have ferried non-residents to vote from neighbouring villages of Lugala and Lusaze.
