A one-year-old child has been stung to death by a swarm of bees. The incident happened in Kibibira village Pakanyi Sub-county Masindi district last evening.
The child was with his mother Margret Ayeronga in the garden when the swarm of bees descended on them.
James Onega, a resident of the area told Uganda Radio Network that when the swarm of the bees attacked the two, the mother, who was equally stung fled the site and abandoned the child in the garden. Ayeronga informed other residents who took her to a nearby clinic for medical attention.
The residents later rushed to the garden where the baby had been abandoned but found him dead. Onega says it is not clear where the bees came from since there are no beehives in the village.
