Cholera scare Hits Amolatar District

The death of 2 children from diarrhea-like complications has sparked off fears, of cholera out break in Amolatar district.

The children aged 13 and 7 died shortly after they had been diagnosed with diarrhea on Tuesday. Another family of 9 has been admitted at Lwala hospital in Kaberamaido district with similar complications.

The outbreak has been reported at Awonangiro parish near the border between Amolatar and Kaberamaido districts.

The Amolatar district health department has dispatched a medical team to investigate the disease.

The district director of Health Services, Dr. James Awanyo says that it is still early to conclude whether the children had died of cholera.
