Councilors and residents in Hoima West Division, Hoima City, are expressing outrage over the shoddy workmanship on the Karongo-Bujuura-Budaka road, which was rehabilitated with an allocation of UGX 109 million.

The road, rehabilitated in September, is already in poor condition, with no drainage channels and poorly installed culverts. The residents and councilors argue that the project, which was expected to improve the road’s condition, has instead resulted in a substandard outcome.

They are demanding that the City Engineer, Julius Sentuma, be held accountable for the allocation of funds, claiming that the money was misused. Godfrey Azoora, a resident of Bujuura Ward, expressed concern, stating that the poor quality of the road work suggests that the allocated funds were misappropriated.

Joshua Byenkya, the male councilor representing Hoima West Division, emphasized that the rehabilitation did not offer value for money, urging that the city engineer be immediately transferred.

In response, Julius Sentuma, the City Engineer, defended his team, stating that the roadwork is not yet complete, and appealed to the councilors and residents to remain patient. He denied any wrongdoing regarding the mismanagement of funds.
