City Oiler, the defending champions of the National Basketball League edged Uganda Christian University 63-57 on Friday night to get close to their 7th Championship title.   

The Oilers, a nine man team outclassed the Mukono side on a major league game played at the Lugogo MTN Arena. 

Three City Oil players including Nigerian Import, Francis Azolibe, veteran Stephen Omony, and Jonathan Egau are off the game following long term injuries.

Although a major power blackout at the arena lasted for about 35 minutes, the game resumed after many thought it would stall.  

Oilers, James Okello scored a game high 26 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists, while Jimmy Enabu scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.   

For Coach, Nick Natuhereza’s UCU side, David Kongor Deng managed only 16 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists while Chuma Fadhili added 11 points.

The win puts Oilers ahead of the best of seven series and they now need only one win to become champions while UCU must win three more games if they are to make it.
