The construction of Kabale Remand home in Southern Division in Kabale municipality has stalled. The Gender, Labor and Social Development Ministry launched the construction of the multi million Shillings facility in 2014.

The Ministry contracted Palm Construction Limited to undertake the project for a period of one year. It was hoped that once completed, the remand home would accommodate minor offenders from Kigezi region.

However, the project stalled at roofing stage due to unclear reasons. But, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, the State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs under the Gender, Labor and Social Development Ministry, says construction work will resume soon.

Arinaitwe wonders why the Gender Ministry halted the construction work without notifying the local authorities.
