Construction of the bridge along Nsangi-Buloba Road has started. The bridge has been dangerous to
motorists, most especially heavy traffic.
The bridge was in May closed to heavy trucks because it had 16 visible cracks cutting
through and it could curve in at any time causing great danger. The
poor state of the bridge has been attributed to massive water flow from Lubigi
swamp, which collects water from Bwaise and other neighbouring areas.
Eng. Sam Mwesigwa who heads Wakiso district works department says that they will require three box culverts during construction.
// “cue in: this box culvert..
Cue out: .. Alternative drainage structures,” //.
Currently, a temporary passage has been created in the swamp for pedestrians, Boda
Boda cyclists and light vehicles.
He wants the Uganda National Roads Authority- UNRA to take over the bridge and
upgrade it to tarmac which the district cannot do due to lack of resources.
