Kitgum Municipal Council signed a contract with Trio Consultants Ltd in June this year to supervise, China Railway 18 Bureau Group Co Ltd that was contracted to undertake the 16.6 Billion shillings road construction.
Trio Consultants Ltd, a consultancy firm contracted to supervise
the construction of seven roads in Kitgum Municipality has kicked off a review
of architectural designs of the 2.9 km roads.
The roads funded by the World Bank under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructural
Development- USMID were designed by Ghanaian firm, Comptran Engineering &
Planning Associates.
Kitgum Municipal Council signed a contract with Trio Consultants Ltd in June
this year to supervise, China Railway 18 Bureau Group Co Ltd that was
contracted to undertake the 16.6 Billion shillings road construction.
Kitgum Municipal Council Engineer Alfred Alexis Abonga says that a team of
engineers from the consultancy firm arrived in Kitgum Municipality last week.
Abonga says the engineers were taken to all the project sites within central
and Pandwong Divisions where the seven roads will be constructed.

He notes that the engineers are conducting major reviews on the architectural
designs earlier designed by Comptran Engineering and Planning Associates to
ensure there are no gaps, and the designs are fine.

He notes that they are currently having discussions with the team to see how
the construction work is going to take off.
According to Abonga, once the architectural design review is
completed, the consultant will hand over the work to the contractor, for actual
implementation.
Both the Trio Consultant Ltd and China Railway 18 Bureau Group were issued
letters of commencement for the multi-billion road works in late June this
year.
Emmanuel Banya, Kitgum Municipal Council Town Clerk says that the contractor
has already begun processes of mobilizing equipment, ahead of the official ground-breaking
for the road construction.
The
roads to be constructed in the first phase of the USMID project are Janani
Luwum, Lakidi, Philip Adonga, Kitgum road, Tom Apila all in Central Division,
Oneka road, and Aya Hellen Dean in Pandwong division.
