Councilor in Trouble for Corruption

According to Akampurira, Kwebangira assured her that he would pass over the money to Rukungiri District Service Commission officials to ensure she secured the job.

David Agaba Kwebangira, the LC V councilor of Kebisoni sub-county in Rukungiri district is in trouble for allegedly obtaining money by the false presence and promoting corruption.

Kwebangira, who is in custody at Rukungiri police station allegedly obtained Shillings 2 million from Talent Akampurira,30, a resident of Rutooma A village in Ibanda Parish, Nyarushanje Sub-county to help her secure a job a parish chief.

 

According to Akampurira, Kwebangira assured her that he would pass over the money to Rukungiri District Service Commission officials to ensure she secured the job.

   

Akampurira says that she was however shocked when her name didn’t appear on the list of those short-listed to appear for interviews, which prompted her to report the matter

to police after failing to an answer from the councilor.  

 

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, says that police swung in action and picked up the councilor on Wednesday evening as investigations into the matter are ongoing.
